Johns Pass – Spring Fishing Report

posted in: Fishing Reports | 0

It’s February and spring is right around the corner. Fishing has been good this winter! Starting with the bottom bite, the hogfish are still going strong in 20-40 feet of water. We are also catching Grouper, Snapper, Grunts and Porgy’s in the same depths. Going in to March and April; what I like to call our big fish months, schools of kingfish will start to move into our area. Some of these fish can weigh in at the 40lb+ range and are one of the fastest fish in the ocean. Our annual Tarpon migration will be kicking off as well in the spring months as the water temps rise. The average tarpon we catch are 100lb+ and make spectacular aerial jumps; a true catch of a life time. The barracuda will invade the local wrecks and reefs as will the mangrove snappers. It’s my personal favorite time of year. The sea really comes to life; come fish with us and by the end of the day it will be yours to.
